Be merry & buy local this festive season

Daniel Hadiwibawa

The locally-made scene has really taken off this year. In Canberra and across Australia.

Here at MFGD, we love supporting local businesses and with markets popping up almost every weekend, there is always a chance to scope out and support the local scene. Markets are fantastic places to buy just about anything you need. Fresh produce, beauty products, homewares, clothing, jewellery, stationery, cleaning products, artwork, frames, desk accessories, children’s gifts and much, much more.

In the lead up to Christmas and the New Year, the local market scene is exploding to provide you with a wealth of opportunities to buy local handmade gifts, decorations and holiday essentials; not to mention office and school supplies for 2016.

Office essentials like the 2016 Diary from Canberra-based store Little Papeterie.

The MFGD team is excited to be a part of a whole range of markets as well as a ‘pop-up shop’ with our good friends Lazy Sunday Home and Little Papeterie during the Design Canberra Festival leading into Christmas.

Mark these dates in your calendar and get your Christmas shopping done while supporting local creatives. We guarantee by buying locally sourced and handmade products you’ll get some unique and inspiring gifts, all the while feeling good that you’re supporting local business.

Don’t forget to also try the local food and drinks available at the markets. Night Market Canberra and Taste Canberra, in particular have licenced bar and street food vendors on hand to help provide that festive spirit.

And as part of the festive spirit, visit us at any of the above markets and tell us ‘why you’re buying local this Christmas’, and we’ll give you two MFGD 2016 calendars for $80 - keep one for yourself and gift one for a close friend or family member.

Make this Christmas the year you buy local and support the wealth of amazing businesses in your creative town!

2016 MFGD Calendars are here (Pre-order Special)

Daniel Hadiwibawa

The wait is over

If you only buy one calendar in the lead up to the New Year, make it a MFGD desk calendar. Our signature MFGD 2016 desk calendar is not only functional but also designed to add good deeds in your life. Each calendar month is lovingly letter pressed and has three unique deeds for you to leave a positive impact in the world.

What's Different?

This year, MFGD has enhanced the desk calendar by creating a custom wooden dock to cater for the 12 monthly cards and by including a pencil groove as well. The minimalist design makes it a perfect addition to any home, apartment or office.

Along with these changes, we’ve also included 6 new public cards to help you increase your positive influence in your community and inspire others. These public cards contain simple messages, which you can randomly leave anywhere for anyone—because sometimes finding a note that says ‘You are amazing.’ is all takes to put a smile on someone's face.

The gift that gives back

The 2016 MFGD desk calendar is the perfect Christmas gift for family, friends and work-colleagues. This desk calendar along with the public cards come beautifully packaged ready to wrap for that special someone. To add to the good vibes, these calendars (and all MFGD products) are handmade and designed in Australia.

Small Gestures Big Impact

MFGD products combine graphic design, bespoke letterpress printing, and timber craftsmanship to offer everyday products with a positive twist. The 2015 Desk Calendar is a prime example, introducing 3 good deeds monthly for you to set out and leave your positive imprint on this world.

"It's a treat being able to work with a family member that shares the same passion and interest for design. Even though we work in different mediums, we've been able to pull together our individual skills to generate a range of ideas… Made From Good Deeds is just the initiation of one such idea."

says C. Hadiwibawa.

The brother sister duo have worked together on previous design projects in the past, ranging from online design blogs through to furniture projects. Simplicity has always been the underlying thread behind their profession, and this is no different with MFGD.

The 2015 Calendar set, Public Cards and the stands are the first products to accompany the official launch of Made From Good Deeds. More products will follow in the coming months. Be sure to subscribe to our Newsletter and follow us on our Social Media outlets for the latest news and updates.
